The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County strives to enable all young people, especially those who need help the most, to reach their full potential as productive and caring citizens. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County provide a fun, safe and supervised environment for recreational and educational activities for all youngsters, including those from low income and poorly educated families.

Since 1965, the Boys & Girls Clubs began giving Broward County children a wholesome alternative to the streets. This charity now serves more than 12,000 kids, making it one of the largest Boys & Girls Clubs organizations in America. Recently, the state of Florida honored one of its members, an outstanding 16-year-old Broward girl, as "Youth of the Year."

Local police note that neighborhood crime rates dropped an average of 47% after a Boys & Girls Club opened in Broward County . Since being founded in 1860, this nonprofit's 3,400 clubs have helped more than four million children nationally. The Boys & Girls Clubs seek disadvantaged youngsters, some of whom may be lacking love & attention at home or in school. Most of them come from broken homes and need an alternative to peer pressure, drugs, gangs and bad temptations. Most of these children are not served by any other organization.

Boys & Girls Clubs work with NFL / Youth Education Town (YET), which provides kids a fun learning environment after school. Recently, The Miami Dolphins visited the children to motivate them to study and stay out of trouble.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County has a $10 million budget and must raise $6.5 million every year through special events. As a 501c3 non-profit, this private agency relies on funds from general donations, special events, corporations, foundations, endowments, United Way and the county. Ninety-eight percent of the money raised remains in Broward County.
